The coastline of Kaua'i between Po'ipu and Nawiliwili was a welcome and rare addition to the itinerary of a recent Norwegian Star cruise when mechanical problems precluded a Fanning Island run.

For many, a vacation at sea is a new way to see their island home, and it's a way to feel good about doing nothing. For those seeking a little more action, excursions commonly range from helicopter flights to bus trips.
